Terraforming Mars: Hellas & Elysium is the first expansion for Terraforming Mars. It features a double - sided game board showing two exciting new Mars areas. Elysium is near the opposite side of Mars' equator. It has huge northern lowlands perfect for oceans and a dry, mineral - rich south. Place a tile on Olympus Mons, the solar system's highest peak, and get three free cards! Hellas, the southern wild, includes Mars' south pole and the massive seven - hex Hellas crater, ideal to turn into a giant lake. Building around the pole gives heat and maybe water as placement bonuses. Each map has its own unique milestones and awards. Become a Polar Explorer by placing three tiles around the south pole or compete to have the most estates near water on Elysium!

To play with Terraforming Mars: Hellas and Elysium, first choose which side of the double - sided game board you want to use - either Elysium or Hellas. Set up the game as per the base Terraforming Mars rules. When placing tiles, remember the special features of each area. On Elysium, try to place a tile on Olympus Mons to get three free cards. In Hellas, focus on building around the south pole to earn heat and possible water bonuses. Keep an eye on the milestones and awards unique to each map and aim to achieve them.
