Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails takes the beloved Ticket to Ride gameplay and expands it globally. You'll be moving across water, introducing the sails element. In this game, players start with tickets showing two cities. Throughout the game, they collect colored cards and claim routes on the board using train and ship tokens to score points. When a player has six or fewer tokens, each player takes two more turns and the game ends. If you've created a continuous path between the cities on a ticket, you score points; otherwise, you lose points. This version adds twists like split decks for trains and ships. At the start, three cards of each type are revealed. When drawing, you can choose from either deck. Players also choose their own mix of train and ship tokens at the start. To claim a train route, play train cards and use train tokens. For ship routes, play ship cards and use ship tokens. Double - ship cards can cover one or two ship spaces. You can swap tokens but lose a point for each swap. Some tickets show multi - city tour routes, offering more points for an exact match. Each player starts with three harbors. Place a harbor in a port city by discarding two train and two ship cards of the same color with the anchor symbol. At the end, you lose points for unplaced harbors and gain points based on completed tickets with the port city. The game includes a double - sided board, one showing the world and the other the Great Lakes of North America, with different starting resources and gameplay on each side.

How to play: Start the game by getting tickets that show two cities. Your goal is to score points by creating continuous paths between these cities. Collect colored cards and use them to claim routes on the game board with train and ship tokens. When a player has six or fewer tokens, everyone gets two more turns, then the game ends. For scoring, if you've connected the cities on a ticket, you score the points on it; otherwise, you lose points. Regarding the special features, there are split decks for trains and ships. At the start, three cards of each type are visible. When drawing, pick from either deck. Shuffle the decks separately when needed. You can choose your own mix of train and ship tokens at the start. To claim a train route, use train cards and train tokens; for ship routes, use ship cards and ship tokens. Double - ship cards give you more options. You can swap tokens, but remember, you'll lose one point for each swap. Some tickets have multi - city tour routes. Try to match them exactly for more points. Each player starts with three harbors. Place a harbor in a port city by discarding two train and two ship cards of the same color with the anchor symbol. At the end of the game, unplaced harbors cost you four points each, and placed harbors can earn you 10 - 40 points depending on your completed tickets. Note that the game has a double - sided board. The side you choose affects the number of starting cards and tokens, as well as some gameplay details. There's no special maintenance needed for this game. Just keep the cards and tokens organized and stored in a dry place when not in use.
